It was winter break, and I was bored. I asked my Mom if she would take me to a craft store so I could use a gift card I got for my 10th birthday. She asked me what I was going to buy, and one thing led to another. Within an hour, I had created Hibiscus Girl - my first company. I really like fashion, crafts, and helping people and the environment. So I decided to make these fabric button earrings like a pair my mom used to have. I started brainstorming all the fabrics my friends might want to buy -- foods, school colors, emojis, animals, etc. I used all my gift cards to buy the supplies with a goal of making and selling 100 pairs of earrings to start. Once I knew how much it would cost to make each pair of earrings, I decided to give $1 of every sell to a cause I care about starting with the environment and saving sea turtles. Each month, I will pick a different charity to give to. Why Hibiscus Girl? Well, I am a self-proclaimed VSCO girl. My Dad used to make fun of me by calling me a Hibiscus Girl instead. I liked the way Hibiscus Girl sounded, and I love the flower, summer, and the beach (where you can most often find Hibiscus). So here goes... Wish me luck and please buy a pair of earrings or two.
